Galveston Historical Foundation Harbor Tours to Re-open Valentine’s Day Weekend
Galveston Historical Foundation (GHF) announces that it will re-open its daily Historic Harbor Tours with Dolphin Watching onboard Seagull II in time for Valentine’s Day weekend. Seagull II, the Texas Seaport Museum’s 50-foot twin-engine motor vessel, suffered minor Ike damage and has been out of commission since the hurricane. Repairs are almost complete and captains and crew are being reassembled according to John Schaumburg, Waterfront Manager of the Texas Seaport Museum.

Valentine’s Weekend Harbor Tour passengers will be treated to complimentary soft drinks and chocolates onboard their one-hour tour. From Valentine’s Day on, Seagull II will offer one-hour historic harbor tours with dolphin watching to the public on a walk-up basis on Saturdays, Sundays, and Monday holidays at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. from Pier 22 adjacent to Galveston’s Texas Seaport Museum. Tickets cost $12 for adults and $10 for children four to eighteen. GHF member tickets (adults and children) cost only $6. Tickets can be purchased in the Texas Seaport Museum Gift Shop.
Fast, stable and sheltered, Seagull II was built specifically for harbor sight-seeing excursions and education, and also serves as a platform for waterborne experiential learning for school groups throughout the region. The boat is U.S. Coast Guard certified and her operators are fully licensed and knowledgeable about the history and lore of her home waters. Seagull II is restroom-equipped, offers soft drinks and bottled water for sale, and has a comfortable main deck, sheltered from sun and rain. An open upper deck affords a full panorama of water and sky.
