Galveston County Historical Museum’s 12th Annual “Quilts in Motion” Exhibit Open through November 16 at Custom House

The Twelfth Annual “Quilts in Motion” exhibit is now on view at Galveston Historical Foundation headquarters, the 1861 U.S. Custom House at 502 20th Street in Galveston. The exhibit, organized by the Galveston County Historical Museum, will be on view through November 16, 2007. The quilts are created by members of the Island Quilter’s Guild. The exhibit is free of charge and open to the public 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

This year’s poster quilt for “Quilts in Motion” is Galveston Bay Blues, designed and pieced by the Island Quilter’s Guild.

“This year’s exhibit includes our usual widely ecclectic collection of quilts. Some feature very modern designs, while others offer a more traditional approach. Regardless of your style, you are sure to be impressed by this colorful show of expert quilting,” said Galveston County Historical Museum director Jodi Wright-Gidley. Some of the quilts on display have won prizes at prestigious quilt shows around the country.

The Galveston County Historical Museum is a joint project of Galveston Historical Foundation and the Galveston County Commissioners Court. For more information, call museum director Jodi Wright-Gidley at 409-766-2340.
