Energy Audits

As a part of our National Trust for Historic Preservation, Partners in the Field grant programming the Galveston Historical Foundation (GHF) has partnered with Standard Renewable Energy (SRE) to coordinate Energy Audits of historic properties on Galveston Island. An Energy Audit is a thorough inspection of a building and its energy consumption, it is the first step in the overall process of making a building more energy efficient. Property owners are able to use the audit to make knowledgeable choices about improving their energy use.  SRE is donating 5% of Energy Audit proceeds back to GHF.

Standard Renewable Energy has a team of professionals that inspects the target building and then work with the property owner to produce a customized plan that empowers the owner to make energy saving choices that fit into their lifestyle and budget. Energy audits and the customized work plan help to lower utility bills, increase comfort, improve air quality, and also reduce a building’s environmental impact.

Sample energy audit reports:

SRE has three different levels of Energy Audits available depending on the owner’s needs and budget. The Essential Audit is a detailed visual inspection of every part of the building including doors, windows, walls, attic space, insulation, heating ventilation and air conditioning equipment, appliances and lighting. The Essential Audit serves as the basis for the more advanced packages that include extra services. These extra services include a blower door test to identify leaks in the building’s exposed exterior sections, a duct blaster test to diagnose duct leakage, an infrared scanner to see heat flow through the house and identify leaks, and a HERS (Home Energy Rating System) index report that shows the current and potential energy consumption.
