Galveston Island Tours Announces East End Historic District Tour

The East End Historic District Tour will not be available November 5th. We are sorry for any inconvenience.

Galveston Island Tours, an affiliate of Galveston Historical Foundation, is now offering East End Historic District tours showcasing the post Hurricane Ike tree sculptures via their electric solar shuttle. The tour runs Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. and lasts approximately 1 hour. Cost is $15 per person or $10 for children 12 and under and departs from Ashton Villa, 2328 Broadway.

Galveston Island Tours Director Pamela Petty said that this tour offers a unique chance to view one of the Islands most popular post-Hurricane Ike attractions. “Not only does Galveston’s East End Historic District feature some of the island’s most recognizable architecture and stories, it also is home to many of the amazing tree carvings that have been created since Hurricane Ike. Passengers will be able to get much better photos due to the open design of the vehicle.”

“The electric vehicle is part of GHF’s continued move toward greater environmental responsibility,” said GHF Project Coordinator Matt Pelz. “Another of its advantages is that it’s extremely quiet. The tour guide can speak to the passengers without difficulty of being heard.”

Tours are on a first come first serve basis. Private tours are available upon request for private groups of 5 or more. For more information on Galveston Island Tours, please email events@galvestonislandtours.com or call 409-765-8687 or 888-425-8687.
